Congratulations to Mathieu Panel (ex-doctoral fellow of the Ghaleh team) honored in the Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics of March 2021!
After receiving the Prix des Sciences du Médicament by the French National Academy of Pharmacy in February 2020, Mathieu Panel, a former IMRB doctoral student in Bijan Ghaleh’s team, has just been highlighted as a trainee author in the Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics in the March 2021 issue.
The paper for which he was selected as a highlighted trainee author is entitled “A Phenyl-Pyrrolidine Derivative Reveals a Dual Inhibition Mechanism of Myocardial Mitochondrial Permeability Transition Pore, Which Is Limited by Its Myocardial Distribution,” appeared in JPET, March 2021, 376 (3) 348-357, and is the result of a collaboration with Jean-Michel Pawlotsky’s team.
Currently, Mathieu Panel is working as a post-doctoral fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Alain Lacampagne (PhyMedExp, Inserm, CNRS, University of Montpellier). The objective of his current work is to decipher the mechanisms underlying cardiac arrhythmias, focusing on the manipulation of mitochondrial calcium.
