Congratulations to Philippos Mourikis, Frédéric Relaix’s team! His Calci-Notch project in the framework of the International Call for Research Projects (PRI) 2020, has been selected by Inserm among more than 70 projects submitted

Launched in June 2020, the International Research Project (PRI) call was a great success with more than 70 projects submitted for this first edition.

Only 15 projects have been selected, and that of Philippos Mourikis, DR in Fred Relaix’s team, in collaboration with Dr. Fukada’s team from the University of Osaka in Japan, is one of them. The experts and the jury particularly appreciated the quality of the science and the teams, the relevance of the collaboration as well as the impacts of the project.

Due to their extraordinary repair potential, muscle stem cells (MuSCs) open up promising prospects in the field of cell therapy. Calci-Notch intends to decipher the signalling networks that generate and maintain MuSCs and to use these networks as a molecular tool against myopathies.

The annual allocation for this project is 15 k€ for a duration of 5 years, totalling 75 k€. This success will be included in the Inserm’s network of international actions, and will also contribute to the influence of the “International Relations” pole.
